Bill, I was at the El Campeon alittle over a year ago (maybe two) and yes they have the two disticnt courses. No mixing. The old is amazing considering it was built in 1926 and appears to be an early model for the rest of "resort style" golf, up until just recently.
One thing is for sure, the greens have not been tweaked and still have huge humps and rolls. The stimp is likely not to read over 8 very often, and was closer to 6 when I played there, which was fine for me, but I doubt it would be considered anything but pedestrian to the new breed.
