If there's already a thread on this that I'm just not seeing, my apologies.

So dreams do occasionally come true!

I think you're the first to make it official from the USGA.

If you'd care to read others' thoughts, here is a somewhat recent thread:

2013

Can't wait to see it happen.
Big drivers and hot balls are the product of golf course design that rewards the hit one far then hit one high strategy.  Shinny showed everyone how to take care of this whole technology dilemma. - Pat Brockwell, 6/24/04

I am thrilled. It will be a great Open. Please lets hope Rees does not get the preparation job.

How about Hanse/Kittleman?

Somehow, I think Mr. K knows the course probably better than most anybody else, having been the head pro there for almost 30 years.

The Walker Cup in 2009 and now the US Open in 2013.  That is excellent news for the club and for the region.  BBQ and cocktails at Featherfield Farm each nite of the Open!  Tent sites available.  Watch out for the horse dung.

Wayne,

Watching Tom wearing a chef's apron and hat as he turns rotisserie over the spit is good enough reason to start taking better care of ourselves to increase our odds of being alive to witness that event in 7 years.  ;)

Plus, we'll get to see the Open at Merion as a bonus!  ;D

If Tommy boy is cooking, we don't want to eat it.  We better get take out from that Italian restaurant on Rte 3 or let me do the Q!
Tom can pour the wine.  Let's see if Tom can get Elin to show up  8)
