2 Questions for John Morrissett

John,1.  Keith made some very interesting points in an earlier post about the Shootout at Sherwood.  I would like your opinion on the rules question he posed on the situation at the par 3 sixth.  When Tiger's caddy signaled to Duval that he wouldn't attempt to play the ball within the hazard, would this be considered advice?  My thoughts are that because he had already put a ball in play by dropping at the drop area, that the ball in the hazard was no longer THE ball, and had no status, and thus no advice was given.  What are your thoughts?2.  Is Mrs. Morrissett the new NJ State Amateur Champ?

1.  Dammit, Ted, are you asking me to work?  This is an architecture site; Rules answers cost $5 each.It is an interesting question -- is suggesting a course of action that is not allowable under the Rules a breach of Rule 8-1?  There are several variations of the situation.  Call me sometime to talk about it.Also, I can't help but think that the context in which the suggetion was made was slightly different.  Perhaps Tiger's caddie (Ted: note spelling of "caddie") was trying to console David by telling him that he couldn't have played the ball anyway.PS Are those really your thoughts or Joe's?2.  Unfortunately Lisa lost 4 & 3 in the 36-hole final.  It was simply her opponent's day and her opponent's course.  One piece of good news is that Lisa, with only one NJ tournament to her credit, has been named to the NJ state team for the national championship at the Golden Horseshoe next month.

John,Thanks for your answers.  Sorry for the typo, and yes, I did have a conversation with Mr. L on the same rules question which helped me shape my opinion.  Great news about Lisa making the NJ team.  Please congratulate her for me.
