The loss of Langdon Farm will put a premium on public golf south of Portland. The OGA Tukwila course at Woodburn, 10-15 minutes to the south, will be the big victor. Another winner will be the Reserve Vineyards, which is the only other public course geared for big public tournaments.
LF does have a British feel on some holes, but is eclectic in its copying with some church pew bunkers and a Grand Cypress finish. The containment mounds are large, it does deflect the noise and sight of freeway traffic, and look better than the only alternative of a wall.
Heron Lakes are better designs, but I have to drive through Portland traffic to get there.
On a side note, Green Mountain GC near Camas closed it's doors, at least temporarily. Guess it lost out to Camas Meadows in the fight. Shows you can't build two courses when there's only enough business for one.
