...and who was the archie? Guys with prior experience here are politely asked to refrain from (too) premature elucidation...

Martin,
I'm hoping you have a picture from the tee and then the fairway from the 12th, the downhill hogsback-like par 4 which seems as if its getting narrower and narrower as you hit to the green, only its pretty wide open.

The bunkering doesn't look a bit different when I was there last, especially on the par 3, 6th or 7th? (tucked in the trees there)(I'm going off of memory now, and I didn't get to see the holes in order)

Mr Cowley, Sir,
You and I are simply going to have to settle this over a few Holes and/or a few Malts. Or better still, a bit of a combination of both. Get your Butt back over this side soon!!!

The 2nd and 3rd pics are of the 12th green unless my memory fails....?

Tommy,

This course was built before Augusta...and I am sure there are a few holes here copied to Augusta..

Brian,
I always had you pegged as a bit of a 'premature elucidator'!!
Tommy N stole a march on you though. He clearly remembered his time here with great joy!
I also think you were well chuffed and not a little amazed at what you/we came across in the deepest, darkest depths of Fife too!?!?!
Imagine some cash and a little TLC here - Heaven!!!! (Step down, CPC!!!)

Martin,

It is the greatest little hidden course in your neck of the woods.  No other course messes with your mind as much as this little beauty...

That is because it is designed by one of the best...

Clearly I have the hole numbers mixed up, but I have a score card in the other room to help. I just have to dig it up!

I'll nver forget the feeling I had when I saw the first hole. It was like, "I never knew in my life that MacKenzie could design anything so severe like this!"

Brian, Rich, might be able to back me up on this, but the down hill 14th or 15th? (picture #4) to me was slightly representitve of #12 at Augusta with the wide and shallow green over a hazard, only quite a bit more severely down-hill. Another hole I liked was either 16 or 17, which had a "Nose" bunker in the center of the fairway. I'm sure its in these pictures, I just don't see it clearly. (Maybe the last picture?)

Superintendent is a really good guy and he loved to talk about MacKenzie. He also had just taken delivery that day of some brand new Toro equipment, so I'm sure he was really happy because of it!

I'm not sure the existing 1st is THE original MacK - I'll scan some of the History stuff for you/us...

Tommy,

Yes, I know...I have never said that I don't like TOC just that I just can't get my head around it..

I totally agree with you about the 12th at Augusta.  The day I played, a colleague drove the green on the next hole and holed the eagle...

I am sure the 13th is copied from it..

and some really interesting bits...taken from the History of the Club written by Bob De Rose who clearly spent ages poring over the microfiche in Dunfermline Library. (D.P. in the text refers to The Dunfermline Press - the local paper).

Tommy,
Just change your screen resolution. Right mouse-click ON YOUR DESKTOP NOT HERE and select properties. Go for less resolution and it'll all become clear...
actually, I've just checked that and they're still a bit messy. I'll fix them tomorrow morning. The Nance wants me to watch ER with her....

If this is in the UK, is it close to Painswick??!!  :o

That is the niftiest set of wee burns I've seen, and beautifully integrated into the holes in the photos.  The greensites look wild, some punchbowl looks and also Pasatiempo-ish steep slopes.  Is there a Biarritz in the last photo?

Inquiring minds are dying to know -- what and where?
