Interested that you mention Rosses Point which is one of my very favourite links. I'm not sure I'd put it in the same category as TOC for difficulty in discerning the line. At Rosses Point you can generally see the fairways clearly and also the general fall of the land but as with most (all ?) links there will be micro contours that will take a bit of learning. In contrast there are a number of shots at TOC where you're playing over vegetation/hillocks that obscure the view making it hard to see the bounds of the fairway let alone define the line of play, even after a second go round.
