Lincoln Hills GC (Ludington, MI) - A Langford?
« on: March 01, 2025, 10:56:31 AM »
The original Lincoln Hills GC (aka Ludington Hills GC and Ludington GC) has been credited as a Bendelow.  The following Oct. 2, 1919 Grand Rapids Press article suggests it may have been Langford.  The timing is interesting, as this is right around the time Langford left American Park Builders, and Bendelow took over that role.

Holy smokes! I never thought Lincoln Hills would be mentioned on this board. It is one of the first courses I ever played, and yes, I played it with hickories. I must have been eight or nine years old. The only thing I remember is how tired I felt at the end. Fast forward forty years, and my wife and I played it again on our way to Traverse. That was about thirty years ago. So I don’t remember much of it. I do remember thinking that folks in the area had a nice place to play. Conditioning was good. Grass grows well in northern Michigan. I never knew its pedigree, however. Sven, thanks for finding this.

I played here every summer during my childhood when we vacationed in Ludington. (Also sprinkled in Thoroughbred, Grand View & Benona Shores on the ride up)
