Luke,
This isn't NE Texas, but East Texas near Nacoghoches, Wild Spring Dunes. Golf resort with 36 holes, Doak course & Coore-Crenshaw course.

--- Quote from: Luke Sutton on February 19, 2025, 09:33:46 AM ---Everyone is building in Texas but no one has decided to do one in North East Texas near Tyler where I grew up. The land is Pinehurst like with unlimited sand, water, rolling topography and pine trees. Plus land is dirt cheap up there.
There is a sandy site close to Keene, NH that Peter Bowman (from Hooper) has tried to get me to go out and see. It’s a sand quarry with spectacular mountain views and it’s for sale.

I have long wondered why the mts of Virginia did not produce more away clubs. There are bunches of good sites and it is close to Baltimore and Washington DC.

Not necessarily an untapped area, but the former C&C Sugarloaf Mountain is an untapped site. I think it still sits fallow. The hole corridors can still be seen on Google Earth. It would make a good site for a national club. Development is rapidly moving toward Sugarloaf, but doesn't seem to have quite made it there yet. I'd like to see that course come back to life

It's honestly shocking that, with the Florida boom happening, someone hasn't looked into this.

I agree.
Much lesser closed courses, like Legends Clermont and Clermont National, both located about 30 minutes south of Sugarloaf, have re-opened and have full tee sheets.
It wouldn't be the typical Cabot model as it's only one course, but I bet Ben C-D could make it work.
