Early Thoughts From a Too-Early Visit to High Grove Club

Lots going on in Florida these days… so much so, that it's hard to even keep up and seemingly every day, there's a new golf course announced or opening from a big-name architect (I just heard of a new one today, even!).

Coming later this year, High Grove will open in Venus, Florida, some 85 minutes east from Fort Myers, 100 minutes west from Jupiter, and 2 hours south of Orlando. I got a look at the property last week and left in awe of the site Ryan Hanks, Colin Sheehan, and Bert Guy found here, with rolling sand tucked into the orange groves. There's a lot of potential for Gil Hanse & Jim Wagner to unlock here.

Full link above with some photos of the site, the proposed plan, and some thoughts on what's to come.

Looks really good.

Ultra-private, private, resort, semi-resort?
If I missed the classification, I apologize.

Looks really good.
Sure it does.
I'll wager it debuts on multiple "Best New" and "Best US" lists when it's eligible.
Apologies to another thread, but "groupthink" is why this is inevitable.

No "groupthink" intended. Sandy soil and some nice elevation change (for Florida) coupled with Hanse's involvement is enough to get most golf nerds excitement up a bit.

Hope it turns out great.
