The White River runs dark through the heart of the Town,
Washed the people coal-black from the hole in the ground.

Bill Corum, A famous American Sports writer of the first half of the twentieth century, was also doing weekly radio in the 1930s.  The amateur athlete of the year was also one of his guests.  One year that athlete was the polo player Tommy Hitchcock who was far more publicity shy than Corum.  After a flattering introduction Corum asked a lengthy question about polo in response to which Hitchcock nodded.  And so it went for the duration of the program, probably fifteen minutes or less in those days, but Corum's account of how he would supply a yes or no in answer to his many questions is an hilarious but uncomfortable read.  At the end you don't know who was squirming more, Corum or Hitchcock.
Some days you play golf, some days you find things.

I'm not really registered, but I couldn't find a symbol for certifiable.
