"Emperor" Tommy Naccarato, who quietly did a lot behind the scenes to help spark the Second Golden Age of Golf Course Architecture, has lost everything in the LA fires - including all of his golf architecture books and files. A GoFundMe campaign graciously started by Adam Lawrence will help him out financially. I'm now asking all golf writers and golf design nerds to help provide Tommy with a replacement library. Contact me privately here or on my email and I'll send you his new mailing address. Sign your golf book(s) and send them - ideally old, obscure and new architecture-related volumes. Thanks.

Brad, I had no intention to post this on gca, but after seeing your post, I felt that it is important that we recognize that sending Tommy hard cover books from so many may present unique problems on their own, the first being, that he doesn't have the space as of yet, at least according to our last email exchange, to store what will probably be a large number of books.
I've been corresponding with him for the last few weeks and been sending by email via Hightail, due to how large these pdf files are in size, copies of the contents of my own research library that consists of the early years of Golf Illustrated, American Golfer, Golf USGA, American Annual Golf Guide, Spalding Golf Guides, Harpers and others that I have. I'll also be sending him a number of books dating back to the early 1800s that are also in pdf format.
I'm also going to be sending him a number of hard cover books in my collection including "Golf Architecture in America" by George Thomas, a book that I know he treasured, among others. I'm just waiting on him to let me know when and where I can begin sending them to. We've been corresponding about these for several weeks and I cannot urge others enough to contact him about what books you would like to send before doing so. This would allow him to not have to figure out what to do with numerous copies of books that will take up what will probably be a limited space.

Much appreciated, Phil. I'm just sending him a few books, as are others. But I'll keep it in mind and check in with him. Only a few people have contacted me as most won't have Tommy's address anyway, but I'll keep it in mind and make sure it's not a deluge.

Brad,

Very nice gesture. Knowing Tommy, the losing his books may have hurt more than his home.

Fantastic Brad, I thought of this when I heard his golf library was lost too, I have already sent him my two books on Alex Russell and Dr MacKenzie. Just got advice from Australia Post that they were delivered today. The least we can do.

I don't know that I have anything that would be of interest or value to Tommy, but once he's resettled I'd be happy to provide a list of what I do have and anything he would be interested in.  Like Pete Pittock above, my library is gathering dust.

There are some space limitations with any library that he might acquire, but I'll provide you with his email offline here, on my email or on my Twitter account and you can ask him about it. Thanks so much.

Could we start a google spreadsheet that lists what books are being sent as to not send duplicates?

I think for now the basic ask is for those of you who have written books to sign and send your own. Thus, no spreadsheets needed. If/when he has enough room the list and the request can be expanded.
