Like everything else in our world, technology is changing our lives. I am a huge fan of golf simulators and they absolutely have a place in the future of golf. No they will not replace the real thing for many of the reasons you guys have posted. Being outdoors, walking, enjoying the golf architecture, being with friends for 4 hours, and lay of the land, etc. But, from a sport standpoint, most all young, elite golfers are using the sims for learning, practice and development. Yes, you could say golf is more science than art nowadays. You won't find many guys like Seve or Lee Trevino, which is a damn shame. But, it's evolution. I like the sim to practice and work on my game where I can learn from the data and video, but then the real test is taking that out to the course. Simulator golf can be fun as you can play and learn about courses you may or may not visit. I love to travel to the UK to play and appreciate the fact I can play Royal Portrush on Trackman to get familiar with the course so maybe I can have a better round when I am there next summer. There are a large number of golfers though that don't really care about making their game better and that's ok. Those people will probably never take an interest in simulator golf.
