Dammit man!

I had at least a 75-shot lead on Schoolfield and was very quickly putting the entire field WAY into the rearview mirror...  ;D

Oh well, easy come, easy go.

FTR, handed out a lot of UPs, and to my chagrin a single DOWN.   ;)

Which takes us back to how best to indicate approval of a good post, without replying to it and saying "I agree with this".  I do think an ability to "like" posts (rather than posters) would be a good thing.
In July I will be riding two stages of this year's Tour de France route for charity, including Mont Ventoux for the William Wates Memorial Trust (https://rideleloop.org/the-charity/) which supports underprivileged young people.

I enjoyed having the ability (however brief it was) to downvote posters who came in hot and made asses of themselves. We owe those posters a debt of gratitude, and the downvote button was just one little way of expressing such gratitude.

We can send a private message to someone. It is a better way to communicate than an anonymous upvote or downvote.

There will be an upvote ability on individual posts coming soon (which is why Karma disappeared in anticipation for that). Working on that now, but the DG is a few updates behind so stay with us as we work on it.

It was a worthwhile experiment Andrew, keep it up, even if this one didn't work out. And yes, a system based on posts rather than posters will be better.

Personally I think any popularity contest is the wrong answer, posts or otherwise… (see the article I linked to a few posts back)… but realise I might be in the minority there.

I hope those who were surprised by the number of downvotes they received take some time and reflect on why.

It occurs to me that those who garnered the most negative votes, or probably would have if they were still around ie. Mucci, Gib, Tom Paul, are the sort of posters who generate the most posts by way of reaction and more often than not the best discussions. That is what makes this Discussion Board so worth while. IMO of course.
