Spectacular. Thank you to media folks at Golf, GolfWeek, FriedEgg, FTB, Golfers Journal, GolfDigest and all across golf social media.

Thanks to those of you that have joined the GoFund Me efforts and others that have helped Tommy directly prior to the establishment of the GoFundMe.

Tommy is an icon in the golf architecture community, and has been a valued friend to hundreds of us for many years. We owe him a great deal. Now it's time to help him! Please give what you can."

Someone said he's at his mom's, so at least there's that. And great job Adam and everyone for donating, it will make a difference!

It's quite late in the evening here, and I shan't be up that much longer, but before I hit the hay, I just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to the entire golf architecture community for stepping up to the plate today. I have messaged with Tommy extensively, and I know that he is blown away by the love today has shown for him.

I don't know where the fundraising will finish, though I think it has a way to go -- we have had some attention from a number of pretty high profile people, and their followers, even though they don't know Tommy personally, are coming to the party as well -- the list of contributors includes a lot of names I know, and a lot I don't. I am extremely grateful to them all.

Today has shown the golf architecture community at its best.

And by highlighted, he means "included a huge write-up in email blast," which should be a major assist for TN.

Tommy. Hope you're still rocking that Fishers Island hat you 'picked' out of the bag at Stone Eagle back when the clubhouse was a mobile home and I had a few American Needle samples to share with the GCA boys after a Hades hot weekend in the 'Springs. Damn... I pray God's speed with your recovery and hope all comes to fruition with you finding another place to call 'home' sooner than later. Lots of green fairways & lightning quick greens in the near future!!!

Brad Klein also put out a tweet / post recent - he's accepting donations of golf books for Tommy.
No doubt there's lots of us who will happily donate a copy of something good to such a worthy recipient
Look for details via Brad's twitter feed. Or those of you in contact with him can email directly.

If you're reading this Tommy - we love you. And we wish you the speediest recovery.

It is a month since I started the Go Fund Me for Tommy, and, although contributions have continued to come in periodically, I think we are pretty much at the end of the line now. So the 'final' total (it needn't _be__ absolutely final, the fund will remain open and if anyone else still wishes to contribute, we'd all be very grateful) is that we received 346 contributions worth $78,589.

I was in California last week for the GCSAA show and spent several days with Tommy. He is still physically fairly weak, but I'm happy to report that his vital spirit is wholly unbowed by what he has been through in the past three months. He remains, at his core, the Emperor he has always been.

I have sent personal messages of thanks to the contributors, but I wanted to use this bully pulpit to say to every single person who contributed how grateful I am for their help. When I started the fund, I agonised for a while about what initial target to set -- I wanted to be ambitious, but not overreaching, and so I chose $8,000. The website resets the target to a new, higher one automatically when you approach the existing one, and it has done so quite a lot in this case. I am awed at the power and good nature of this community. When one of our own was troubled, we came together and did something really great.

Thank you to everyone, from the bottom of my heart.

Would be happy to send Tommy a book. Perhaps a Club History of WBYC? If someone lets me know what address to send it to I will put one in the mail.

For some weird reason, I’ve had Brain Salad Surgery buzzing around in my head today. Maybe because we had a run to St Andrews and I was thinking of Tommy.
I don’t know if he lost his record collection, but, if he did, it might be nice for him to get some new copies of his beloved Keith Emerson’s finest ‘Works’.  ;)
