The Walter J. Travis Society has just posted on its Instagram feed, on the passing of Edward B. Homsey, one of the society's founders. Ed was a pillar in the community of golf course architecture research. He loved Travis and all things golf. The Travis Society Instagram handle is @wjtsociety

Here is a link to the interview on GCA, conducted by Ran, a few years back: https://golfclubatlas.com/feature-interview/feature-interview-with-ed-homsey/

Ed was a kind and gentle man and so passionate about Walter Travis. Brian Schneider and I met his family one day at Round Hill and enjoyed a great lunch in Greenwich after touring the course (Ed insisted on walking that day even though it was clearly a struggle). Another time he so graciously shared his time and wisdom touring me around Stafford, his home club. He was excited to spend extra time showing me the nuances of the 11th green as well as the old 18th. I feel privileged to have met him and what little time we spent together left an indelible mark.

Had a few conversations w/ Ed over the years and will echo what a great man he was. He will be dearly missed.
