I recall thinking that Tobacco Road was always kept too soft on my visits. It’s not the kind of design which needs to be really keen, but balls should have some roll when weather cooperates.

Pasa twenty years ago with some GCA chums…

Game abandoned after the 5th - except for the Redanman who wanted to play on after receiving some very good news. Ed G and I joined him in a cart for the rest of the round.

Perhaps im mistaken,

But i was under the impression the courses at say Bandon still played reasonably well even when wet?  Enough so to still be considered "fun" or "good" (even if one must deal with soggy shoes otherwise)

PS  As for Matts comment on drinking shyte beer?  I think not, as the saying goes compromise elsewhere.
