Assuming access not an issue, Santa Monica beach with plenty of great golf close by

And most of the year temps will accommodate actually getting in the water

Spot the theme?

I should have specified a beach that my wife can relax all day in a bathing suit and in the sun :-).  We have been to Casa de Campo and Mauna Kea/Nanea and she loved them both but difficult to get too.

Seven Mile Beach in Hobart is a beautiful beach - as is the beach at Barnbougle.
The latter was essentially a private beach until the course was built and the only way to it now is through the golf course.

Wow. I had no idea the beach at Barnbougle was that much private. No wonder it was deserted on my visits there. It is an awesome walking beach. It’s a gem.

Daryl David - I think the tunnel through the Dune by the clubhouse of Lost Farm was built by the club.
I expect the public could get to the beach, but it is a long walk, eg from Bridport along the beach.
Otherwise, access requires crossing farmland.

Paul Jones - did you see the beach at Adelaide when you visited?  It is a very long way of course.

James,

The tunnel to the beach at Lost Farm - a classic case of the old mantra "better to ask for forgiveness than permission"

Lake Michigan on the Michigan side has some of the nicest beaches in the country. Pick your spot.

A week at the Tryall Club in Jamaica was probably the best week of my life. Andrew Green did some work there recently so it's probably one of the more polished courses in the area. Has to be one of the more architecturally significant golf courses with it's own private beach. I'm not even going to try to post a picture here but google "seve ballesteros nick faldo tryall club" and you'll get a good sense of the vibe there.

The Jersey Shore in the Atlantic City or Spring Lake areas. Terrific Atlantic coast beaches and plenty of worthy courses. For me salt water is the defining characteristic of a “beach” so I wouldn’t reference a lake for this question.

I did not see the beach, great excuse to come back... although my wife will never fly that far.

Many years ago, Ran Morrissett reached out to me after visiting Tryall and being greatly impressed with the course.  He learned that it was designed by Texan Ralph Plummer, and knowing that I've played most courses of consequence in the state, he asked me to write an opinion piece covering the architect's approach to golf course design.  The deal was that he would then add a detailed analysis of the course as only he can do, proof the document, and upload the completed piece in the "In My Opinion" section.  To my horror (it has mistakes that I can't directly correct), he just "published" it "as is" and, despite my attempts to shame him privately, he has not fulfilled his side of the bargain (the man was quite busy then and probably even more so today).

Anyways, I've not played Tryall.  My wife and I are looking for a winter get-away, a week or two, and perhaps this might be a good spot.  I spent a week at Casa de Campo- 5 rounds of "the Teeth...", 1 each on the other two, and had a great time despite being thrown of a horse on our second day and only able to make half swings the rest of our time there.  I'm told by a good golfer that Punta Cana has some commendable courses and a variety of things to do on and off the beach.  I'm gratefully open for suggestions.
