Thanks for the link. Really enjoyed the video.

I walked the Brambles with James Duncan earlier this year. Based on what I saw in the video, the turf on the course looks like it has matured/improved since then. It can get very hot there. Temps above 100F every day for a week or more in the summer months are not uncommon.

I also got the impression that the sheep will be kept some distance from the areas in play on the course, unlike at Brora.

David, yes it gets warm in Middletown in July/August...the course is closed during August for improvements.  Otherwise open 11 months a year.

Very interesting discussion on training the sheep to do what they want them to do.  Seems like a phased approach without assurance of grazed rough. I commend the approach and effort, but its an idea and aspiration at this stage.

Jeff, yes it is still early, but based on results to date the course is basically "you can find your ball and have a shot" in the rough like some courses (Sand Hills comes to mind) instead of "look around for three minutes and give up" like many other courses (Cashen is my number one enemy in that category).


The greens at Brambles are so firm that the pro shop doesn't even stock ball mark repair tools.  You can't make a ball mark on the greens.
