Mohawk Golf Club in Tiffin, Ohio with the original 9 designed by Donald Ross and back 9 by Jack Kidwell (I think)

or

Mohawk Golf Club in Schenectady, NY designed by Devereux Emmet

I have played both.

I’ve walked the one in Ohio - it’s a nice, undulating piece of property.

I played junior golf at Mohawk in Tiffin. It's a fine course, but I remember feeling like the 9s were different.  Neither was bad, but it did seem like two different architects.

The back 9 (Ross 9) is.  The front 9 is about as flat as they get.

The Mohawk in the land of Kurt Vonnegut (aka Schenny) is a Dev Emmett course. It is a really cool, flattish but undulating property. It has zero major rises and drops, but it undulates. Emmett did a nice job of digging down to give the sensation that the terrain is changing.

I have not seen it in two decades, but really enjoyed what was there. A quick search revealed no restoration news of late. Don't know if they have ever done some.

I thought they hired Matt Dusenberry.

That’s just a warm-up exercise for Gil Hanse’s $12m restoration in 2028.

Hanse's whatever they called his work at Rockaway Hunting Club on Long Island left a lot to be desired from a Devereux Emmet fan and most assuredly was not a restoration.

I got your joke, but hope he stays away from Mohawk there are some cool greens out there if memory serves me correctly.

I had to look up /S to figure out what /TD was saying.

So, for those not in the know, /S = sarcasm preceeding this comment.

Ian, it is not on the MD list of projects https://www.dusenberrydesign.com/projects so it might be under the radar. MD clearly has amassed the frequent flyer miles, judging by his locale list.

Mike - I played it once and that was years ago after a curling event. (The Schenectady curling club is on Balltown Road and is adjacent to the course). I wish I remembered more about it, but I recall it being fun, not super long, and as has been reported here, nice undulations.

Very proud that many GCA'ers had played Mohawk in Ohio. Played there a lot as a younger man, always enjoyed it. One of the real sleepers in the Buckeye State.

Mike-Check out Emmet’s Schuyler Meadows Club in Loudonville which isn’t far from CC of Troy. Dinosaur Bar-B-Que is a winner if you are looking for a place to eat on the back end.

SMC is excellent but the club is a bit stuffy so unless you know someone access could be an issue.

I don't get the jokes and complaints from people above, so I won't post here, but Mike - ping me if you're curious about Mohawk.

If you're going to be in Glens Falls you might as well swing east and hit Rutland CC. It's only an hour away.
