also true at Erin Hills, where , the starter stated, it's an 8.5 mile walk


Mapped this on Google Earth.

For the middle tees:

Front 9 (1 tee to 10 tee): 2.78 miles
Back 9 (10 tee to 18 green): 2.66 miles
Total Mileage: 5.44 miles

In most cases, you walk past back tees from prior green, so maybe another 1/4 mile hike if you play from tips.


A couple years ago in another thread, I mapped just the transitions from green to tee, and the transitions alone were a half mile longer than at Kingsley (which I just chose because I play it the most).  We got behind a really slow group and we mentioned it at the turn.  They told us the group was on their suggested pace of five hours.  I can understand building that into your model, but it was crazy to me that they actually told people that five hours was not only acceptable, but expected.
