Mark-7 and 17 are terrific short par fours with both playing uphill on the approach. The greens are naturally benched into the hillside with 7 having more slope than contour and 17 the opposite. A par is prized at either and I like the tree/brush clearing that was accomplished on the right side of 17 giving the player more opportunity to advance a wayward drive than previously existed. Although the greens are not as wild as 5 and 7 at Wannamoisett they provide a similar test and are a testament to how good Ross was at providing a balanced mix of holes. Additionally I’m a fan of the par 5 6th which has some kick mounds in the drive zone that if negotiated properly can turn the hole into a two shotter. 6 green has at least one flag location where you putt with your back to the hole and are in disbelief as to the line when watching it roll out. Finally I would claim 15,16,17 as my favorite three hole stretch with 6,7,8 in the running.
