We're at 21 golfers, with a capacity of 24.  If you're interested, now is the time to make your mind up!
In June I will be riding the first three stages of this year's Tour de France route for charity.  630km (394 miles) in three days, with 7800m (25,600 feet) of climbing for the William Wates Memorial Trust (https://rideleloop.org/the-charity/) which supports underprivileged young people.

RE Friday the 20th September day at St Andrews. Himalayas and The Eden.

Mark has agreed I deal with this as a separate fund, but its an integral part of BUDA.
The following times have been confirmed.

Please be ready to tee off at 10.30 am,
Matches over the Himalayas Putting Course, about 4 mins between each group.
There’s plentiful parking nearby.
Each group of 4 to play two concurrent games off SCRATCH!
Each match is 9 holes. On the 10th switch oponents and play a second 9 hole match.
All results to count for BUDA teams.

Suggestion:  Informal  brunch in the nearby clubhouse for the New Course.

We have secured 6 tee slots from 13.12 for 18 Holes on The Eden Course.
6 min drive plentiful parking in a separate clubhouse.

Cost for both courses £74.
Bill Gayne will create a separte post - we have a booking for Dinner in St Andrews from 7pm.

Those with a sterling account can pay directly into my bank.
First Direct
Sort Code 404783      Account No 61873334 - (same as last year).

NB this proved a real hassle for those trying from overseas last year, so see option 3 below as alternative. I do have an example of a form that was successfully used that I can send you. It seems the International Banking system calls things by different names each side of the Ocean, so care is needed.  IM me if you’d like to try it.

2
Paypal.

Paypal don’t make it easy to select a ‘Gift’ to ‘Friends and relations’ on Paypal “loophole” of sending money as a gift FOC has passed. Unless you get it just right it seems like they are now adding a 5% charge for these transfers. It’s the money I get that counts!
DO NOT USE THE EMAIL ADDRESS POSTED ON HERE ON A PREVIOUS YEAR  – see below.
You still need to send it as a Gift to Friends and Family – not paying for goods and services - and they don’t make it easy to find the right buttons to press.
Here’s guidance

Tony sent you a paypal for $100 USD as I rounded up.  BTW couldn't figure out how to avoid the $5 that was added, no big deal.  Looking forward to it.

The Eden is a superb addition to BUDA.  Aficionados of architecture will be able to marvel at the greatness of Colt's work and the awfulness of 14 and 15 in the very same round.  But the great more than makes up for the awful!

And the Himalayas is tremendous fun, too.  Both rounds (Eden and putting) will count towards the score of the BUDA match.

One more thing.

I've noticed that the Links Trust are offering half price golf on The Castle Course for groups of 4 Scottish Golf Membership Card Holders. Price drops from £170 to £85 each.

I'd be up for this if there's 3 others on the Wednesday 18th? i.e. day before BUDA

Any other (qualified) interest?

With the addition of Doug Wright, we're now at 24 players signed up.  It would be an unusual BUDA indeed without a drop out between now and September, so if you're interested in being first in line if and when a space opens up, please let me know.

Dear all wanted to see how this has shaped up.  Hotels, and recommendations are welcome as it will be my first Buda. Also I'll only play 18 on day 1 and 3.

I am going to make my recurring pitch for BurntIsland; smack in between your venues. It is a cracking Wille Park with great views, quirky holes, double greens, and a lot of charm and cheap.

Jeff - I think most people will have booked hotels or AirBnB's by now. It's not a coordinated effort. Almost everyone plans some pre- or post-Buda golf. Personally, I'll fly into Edinburgh on Monday, stay in East Lothian for two nights, then drive up to Crail. Pretty sure almost everybody will arrive in Crail on Wednesday evening. There's a WhatsApp group for participants. I don't think you're on that group yet? Mike Whitaker is the admin, maybe send him a message to be added to the group. Quite a lot of coordination during Buda will be through that group.

I don't think we have specific tee times for the Thursday yet. Once we do, they'll probably be shared here or on the WhatsApp group. Usually, people will meet up at the clubhouse for coffee and to catch up before the morning round.

I played The Castle Course in June and while there was a great deal of dirt moved to build it I think it is well worth the price as it is visually spectacular.

Errrr......

Burntisland certainly looks interesting (The Yank and I had a coffee there but didn't play last year).  But not even the most off the wall geography has it between Elie, St Andrews and Crail.

Today I realized I arrive a day earlier into EDI than Mayhugh.   If anyone is interested in playing golf within a reasonable drive from the airport later in the afternoon on Monday the 16th, please let me know.

Jason and Enno,

Depending on what time you’re planning on playing I might join you if you’re not a four. More than happy to host you at Mortonhall or can do the Braids instead. They’re literally separated by a wall.

Sadly Jeff Schley has had to withdraw, so there's a slot free.  It would also he helpful now to get a feel for how many will only want to play 18 holes on the two 36 hole days (the Thursday and Sunday), and which round they would prefer to play (am or pm).  If you're only wanting 18 on the Thursday, I'd strongly recommend playing the Craighead in the morning.  We're playing Balcomie on the Saturday and (see Ran's review on this site) the Craighead is well worth seeing, and not just because it was Hanse's first course outside the US.

I think I've signed up for only one round on the Thursday and I'd prefer to make that in the afternoon for logistical reasons. Can't recall what I said about the Sunday but if I've paid for two rounds I'll play two rounds !!
