I made the short trip up to Sarasota from Fort Myers to play the new Bobby Jones Golf Club today. It's only been open for about two weeks. Richard Mandell was the architect behind this original Ross, 18 hole design. Mr. Mandell combined the back nine of the American 18 with the back nine of the British 18 to re-create the original Donald Ross designed golf course. I had played all of the older, 36 holes about 5-6 years ago, and it was very tired, had poor drainage and just overall, pretty worn out. The old clubhouse was a mess and falling apart. The new clubhouse and short/adjustable course across the street have yet to be built, but they will be started in 2024. The place was packed all day today! I loved it!
