How could they grow grass that quickly?  We are building a second course at my club and grow in will take a year.


Acceptable standards for opening were likely much different than today. Likewise, the maintenance standards were much different.

What Kyle says is correct and can be clearly seen in the photographs, beginning with the front cover, of the September 8th, 1923 Opening Day brochure, that the grass on both courses had yet to be fully grown in. Despite that, both courses were eminently playable.
