Adam -

As you know, Colt was a member of the R&A rules committees as of 1899 and at least one other committee charged with speeding up play on TOC in 1899. (You will know more about those appointments than I.)

So Colt was around. I thought it worth noting, however, that he did not seem to be involved in either bunker project. Several non-architects were, including Argyll Robertson, Freddie Tait, Captain Burn, J.E. Laidlay and a number of others.

Did Hawtree not stick in a couple of bunkers to the right of the 2nd (?) green at roughly the same time that the work was done to the Eden green ? Or did they get taken out ?

Niall

Niall,

If I remember correctly, Hawtree closed up the two bunkers and created two similar bunkers a little closer to the green. I guess that's called "relocating", but I'm not sure I agree with that term.
