Nigel, I think you might reconsider your statement in reference to what Raynor should be recognized for at MPCC statement, "I think most would be hard pressed to call it a Raynor original." Would that include Hunter and MacKenzie? In the August, 1926 issue of Golf Illustrated, on page 61, it states: "The new layout is the Monterey Peninsula Country Club...The new course was planned and partially laid out by Seth J. Raynor who died before its completion. Robert Hunter of Pebble Beach and Dr. A. Mackenzie finished Raynor's work." It certainly seems like Raynor was considered the designer of the course and had already overseen some of its construction at that time.
