Hoylake, Walton Heath, Royal Porthcawl
« on: July 08, 2023, 10:16:49 AM »
The three venues for Open Championships this year. I'm pretty excited to see each one on television. Never seen the Heath and probably don't remember much about Porthcawl. I remember Hoylake a bit, but not enough to call it familiar.

I know that we repeat this each year, but there is nothing like rising early in the USA, making coffee, and settling down to a morning of Open championship coverage.
Coming in 2024
~Elmira Country Club
~Soaring Eagles
~Bonavista
~Indian Hills
~Maybe some more!!

When I was a youngster the "British" Open was on for an hour on ABC's Wide World of Sports with Jim McKay. I planned my day around watching it. I've played all the courses on the rota except Lytham and I still plan my day around the Open.

If you want to see some seriously good links golf, go watch the 2017 Senior Open at Porthcawl.  It was howling and Langer played such amazing golf.

And none of them is starting at the right place... ;D ;D
Porthcawl 18th
Hoylake 17th
Walton 2nd
A first in British major history, I suspect
Still, should be a fab 3-week TV experience (although not for me as I don't have SKY!)
