Cruden Bay vs Ireland
« on: July 01, 2023, 11:53:23 AM »
It seems that a popular sound bite is that Cruden Bay is more Irish than Scottish when it come to style of links. For those that have experience in the dunescapes of western Ireland, how would you compare and contrast the courses there to Cruden Bay?

I might say that Lahinch is the closest Irish course to Cruden Bay. Both Golden Age architects with a bit of pre-Golden Age quirk. Both big dunes (but not the huge dunes of some of the NW Ireland courses).

That’s very interesting. My assumption is that Cruden Bay is a bit more refined than say, Carne, but I could be wrong. Looking forward to finding out.

The difference between Scottish links and Irish links is its own subject. Very cool.
