OT - Can you identify the location of the golf hole in this photograph?

I hope this is not completely inappropriate, but I have been hanging out over on golf reddit for years, and a post there today really seems to be stumping everyone so I thought I'd share it here. A user is trying to find the location of this photograph. It's a photo of their best friend's dad, who recently past and they want to find the location to recreate the photo. I'm actually quite shocked nobody has found it yet, so I got permission to share it here. The only clues are that we know that the person in the photo is a scratch golfer, and from southern California.


Any guesses?

First thing that came to mind was Palms Golf course just over the Arizona state line of the Mesquite area.

Never played it, but driven right past it dozens of times.

P.S  2nd guess, somewhere in the Palm Springs area.

I am pretty sure that this is Menifee Lakes Golf Course in Menifee, CA east of Murrieta. Played there once many years ago, flat with lots of water and sand, palm trees. Looks like pictures on their website and satellite.
