Embarrassing golf moments
« on: May 08, 2023, 05:53:20 PM »
Last summer I went to Nebraska to play Landman. Since I was in the area I thought I’d double up. I arranged to play a course outside of Sioux City. When I got to the course, I mentioned that it had been thirty years since I played in Iowa. “Sir,” he sheepishly replied, “you’re in South Dakota.” Oops.

Had one earlier this week while playing Erin Hills.  I had a lie where the ball was on top of the bunker and my stance was below it on a steep, rugged bunker bank.  Took my stance, swung and hit the shot, and lost my balance, chest/face planting into the bank so hard I was temporarily winded.  Other than tweaking my back a few times on a golf shot, I had never actually hurt myself swinging a golf club.

16 Maidstone-shot of my life, made birdie

Sadly. I have many similar pics, often with less happy endings...

Jeff, just wondering if you have a personal photographer following you around taking these "many" similar pics?

I can tell you my playing companions wished they had a video of that moment.  I can laugh at myself a bit and wish they had one, too.  I wonder if it looked as silly as I felt, but the group on the tee behind us assured me it did.

Nowadays everybody has a cell phone so when you end up in precarious situation(which I often do)... cameras roll.

That particular shot at Maidstone was taken from two angles (caddie and my son)and their commentary is priceless.

Tried to post one from last year doing speed training where a driver shaft broke and the head hit me square in the nose drawing blood.
Happened to be my highest ballspeed , clubhead speed, and carry yardage ever.

Got another of a shot under a limb and over a wall at North Haven that ...didn't end well.

And many more...
