Dunedin Golf Club Renovation
« on: January 31, 2023, 08:03:36 AM »
From a friend of mine who is a member at Dunedin:

"The plans are complete, the town agreed to $4m and the Donald Ross society is putting in $500k. Work starts 3/24, course will close for 8 months. They have already started clearing areas for new tee boxes and removing trees.
They are going to add 60-80 bunkers, and drop all the greens 2'.
This will be an amazing course when completed."

That is fantastic news.  Can't wait to see the finished product.

Rob, the Donald Ross Society is not contributing to the project.  The DRS Foundation assisted with the development of the initial MP.

We are currently working with the city and also receiving community input.  Still a few things to work out but we are planning to put the project out to bid Sept 2023 with a start date 2/2024.

Thanks for the correction Kris

Looks like Dunedin Opens for play next week. If anyone gets out there over the winter I would love to see some pictures.

I'll be Florida for 2 weeks, maybe I will buzz up from Fort Myers and play the newer version. My wife and I played it (before renovation/restoration) 5-6 years ago.
Favorites Played in 2024:
Crystal Downs CC (MI), The Bridge (NY), Canterbury GC (OH), Lakota Links (CO), Montauk Downs (NY), Sedge Valley (WI), AIken GC (SC), Fort Mill GC (SC)

Had a chance to play parts of the course a few weeks ago with the Donald Ross society and what I saw was very impressive. Kris did a great job with the greens. I had never seen the course before the renovation and it was nice to see some elevation changes. Had a Mountain Lake feel to it in my opinion.

Dunedin is a cool little town too. Highly recommend checking it out.

It was good before. Not quite good enough. Still the toughest opening Ross stretch I’ve played. And I’ve played #2.
