This is a huge bummer. Purportedly the VA plans to use the land to expand healthcare facilities and offerings due to an increase in veterans requiring services in the area. In land use issues, it’s hard to beat that. Additionally, if there’s anything easy to complain about with the VA, is the availability and timing of healthcare. Unfortunately the closing of the course seems to be a net win for veterans requiring care.
All that said, I believe in golf as a tool for helping servicemembers past and present combat their own demons. I hope they can find a place to play.
