Too much going on in the Hoylake photo. It's a great angle, but the perimeter clutter probably doomed it to simple greatness.

James does a great job and that photo of the new par 3 is outstanding.  Thank God UK greens keepers believe in sharing their courses via photos. 8)

 ;)  Composition good, easy to dance to, but did the camera have a brown filter or was that color applied by digital processing?  Reminds me of TX copper kettle sunset colors not anything in UK...

Also depends on the rules of the contest. If post-processing is/is not allowed, is the question. A good panel of judges can sop up the extra ink from post-processing, and get to the essence of the photo.
