I played 9 holes yesterday in 2 under, my best score ever,
Have I been working out and eating right? No. But it has been unusually hot and dry here for weeks, and my usually green and lush home course was hard and brown and baked out.
Wow -- no kidding people like 'firm and fast", ie it makes us be much better golfers!
I reached the Par 5 1st in two. I drove within 50 yards of the green on the 2nd. I needed only a hybrid off the tee on the 3rd. I had just an iron in my hand for my approach on the 4th, the longest Par 4 on the course. The 5th is a Par 3, no change. I reached the Par 5 6th in two. I had a gap wedge approach left on the 7th. The 8th is a Par 3, no change. I had an PW left on the Par 4 9th hole.
I got a glimpse of what the long bombers must feel like. It felt good. Three birdies, one bogey.
You want to 'grow the game'? Turn off the water and pull out the irrigation and promote fast and firm. The young, the old, the weak and the infirm, and the broken down and worn will be flocking to your gates.
I'm going back today and play again, before the weather calls for 3 days of rain!
