Man, that narrator has a great accent. Probably not much of a factor for the intended targets of the video, but I'm sold  ;D

Coul Links developer donated to climate denial group

"Hi, Chat GPT, it's me - Mr. Coul Links hater and lazy journalist, Jamie Mann. Can you please write a hit piece on Mike Keiser and just write anything you feel like regardless of its authenticity, truth or even without actual quotes from people who know Mr. Keiser? Thanks as I am WAY too lazy and effing ignorant to lift a finger myself. Oh, maybe make an obtuse analogy to Trump as that always plays well with haters."

The Ferret should know that Mr. Keiser lives in Chicago and not at one of his resorts , but that just underscores how effing lazy and ignorant Ferrets are.

This article screams: "Hi, I am the Ferret and I intend to take a stand on something I am too lazy to reserach on my own so suckers can report my drivel in chat sites like they, too, know something."

Oh, Mr. Mann, let me help you with a few things:
1. Coul Links is being spearheaded today by Mr. Ralphe Abel-Smith and HIS son, Edward, and he owns the land and lives in London. Also, by: https://www.communities4coul.scot/

2. Mike Keiser is not involved today directly for a wide variety of reasons. However, per many, many published reports that you were too lazy to read, it is being driven by his son, Michael. He lives in Wisconsin and a 5 second Googling will lead to his number.

3. Once Coul Links is approved by the Scottish "authorities", then the Keisers will reengage ONLY if asked by the Abel-Smiths.

4. The first part of this will be an eco-Hotel developed by the Abel Smiths.

https://www.northern-times.co.uk/news/planning-consent-granted-for-first-phase-of-20-million-coul-304334

Net/net: Coul Link's future is being driven by the UK-based family that owns the land and NOT the Keisers.
And, lastly, just because a bespoke travel department at a GOP think tank chose Bandon Dunes as the site of their sausage-fest does not mean they were "hosted" by Mike Keiser.
Yet another example of weak, lazy pseudo-journalism that has an underlying bias.

sad how pervasive this is in today's society.

An article in the May 24 issue of the Northern Times is headlined:

"November week for Coul Links hearing"

The hearings, with presentations for and against the project, will begin November 11. The last sentence of the article reads:

"The date set for the hearings means that the final Coul Links decision is not likely to be made until 2025."

You made be able to access the whole article here:

I’ve tuned into webcast of the hearings.  I find it interesting to watch the churning wheels of UK government at work.

Some additional coverage can be found here.

The latest podcast from Cookie Jar also discusses the current state of the application in advance of the week long hearing.

atb -

Thanks for the heads up on the podcast.  I thought a very solid case was made for the project on both economic and environmental grounds.

You watched this voluntarily?   :o

I do not often have to participate in such hearings, but I can say from past experience that it can be a grueling and dispiriting process when you’ve got a lot of work and effort at risk in the result.  I’m not saying there shouldn’t be a planning process, just that it goes off the rails when opponents are just anti-development by default, instead of raising specific concerns to be addressed.

Welcome to our world! There was reasonably well known architect on X saying that their designs for an extension was refused because the windows were wooden framed?! - the planners in UK are becoming nitpickers and the whole system is bonkers as present as it lacks common sense like in the past - a £100m bat tunnel was recently built for High Speed 2 rail line between London to Birmingham because they didn't want to destroy protected bats and their habitats - surely you could have recreated a new habitat for these bats??.

There is more protection for bats than there is improving life for children - £100m would have gone a long way to improving children's lives like better schools and more playground facilities etc. We have our priorities wrong at present in the UK planning system which in parts is definitely holding back the economy from growing.

The world has gone batty! ;D

Yes I know, how odd.

I watched listened to enough in the background to get the sense it’s just as much about local interests vs national politics as it is about environmental concerns.

A spirited speech by the President of Golspie during the community feedback session was the highlight.

Leading politicians representing the Highlands from the Labour, Conservative, SNP and LibDem parties all endorse the Coul Links project and urge the Scottish Government to give approval.

Support from the what I think are the 3 parties with the largest representation in Parliament seems positive. Now we wait for democracy to make the final decision.

No we aren't. We're waiting for the Reporter to make his recommendation. Then we'll see if the Scottish Minister goes with the recommendation. No one's getting a vote on it.

Sorry if my response was misleading. I didn’t intend to infer there was to be a vote. Simply referring to the macro democratic process currently underway that likely won’t wrap up before the start of spring.
