The Last Ever Colt & Company Course
« on: April 20, 2022, 06:15:17 AM »
Anyone ever played Cairndhu GC, just outside Larne in Northern Ireland?

It was built by John Morrison, the first nine in the middle Fifties and the second nine at the start of the Sixties. That second nine was completed in 1961, but didn't open until 1963; as Morrison died in January 1961, this must be the last ever course that Colt & Company worked on.

It looks quite interesting, if over-treed, from the flyover on the course website -- a few holes on the cliffs.

Short words are best, and the old words, when short, are the best of all.

2nd hole is a great par-3.

Some pretty average tree-lined stuff though. Not particularly worth a detour. Doesn’t sniff Ireland’s Top-100.
