Reducing Bunker Size
« on: April 23, 2022, 01:56:47 PM »
I belong to a club with 2 18’s featuring oversized bunkers, some rarely visited.  One course has flat-bottom bunkers while the other’s are flashed up.  Both courses could be freshened up by reducing bunkers sizes by 50% or more  on average.

I suspect there’s more to it than filling and seeding.  Any general thoughts on cost and maintenance savings?

Thanks, Mike

Michael,
Check with the Reserve Vineyards in Oregon. Pretty much the same description of bunkering. They rebuilt the Fought course after 20+ years of operation and reduced the bunkering footprint by maybe forty percent. The time and manpower savings is significant
