Travis Greens at Pennhills Club, Article by Ian Andrew
« on: March 19, 2022, 10:07:17 AM »
In a parallel thread (https://www.golfclubatlas.com/forum/index.php/topic,70828.0.html) we've asked for thoughts on current Travis restoration experts. We have email requests in to three of them, and hope to have articles up on the WJTS website.

On March 18th, we uploaded a piece from architect Ian Andrew. It details a bit of his work at Travis' Pennhills Club in Bradford, PA, USA. In addition to a blend of Travis and Dick Wilson, Pennhills also has a Clifford Wendehack clubhouse that rises from the farmland in stark juxtaposition to the surrounds. The members chose wisely. It reminds me of the clubhouse at Park Club (Williamsville, NY-Alison) on a smaller scale. I presume it has resemblance to Winged Foot and other CW buildings.

Always a highlight to read a piece by Ian and to take one of Joe's course tours. Ian does such a superb job of explaining architecture.

Absolutely love Pennhills. Phenomenal greens and just a wonderful vibe. A bit remote but if you cant get there I'd highly recommend it.
