Yes I think most of us do. I can think of a handful of holes right in my back yard that the average player (or worse
) has an awful time playing. The place where I grew up caddying (Woodcrest Flynn 1929) flipped their nines a while back creating a tough par 5 with a carry over a lake. If we were betting my guess is that 50% of the players don't finish or make a big number on the hole.
So most of us don't want too many forced carries , particularly those who can't hit it up in the air. As to today thought that Arnold would have loved the way his superintendent had the "maintenance meld". Made them play strategic golf and really exposed some short games that weren't up to snuff.....
