Golf Closets
« on: April 17, 2003, 11:14:14 AM »
I brought this up about a year ago. I am renovating, maybe resoring my home now. What features would one want in a golf closet, work area or room. I am converting a 3 by 10 space that was a closet into a sorage, scorecard, records, sweaters, hats, old clubs etc area. Help you wise men of the golf world. time to fool with the plans is almost gone.

Better to have a 30 s.f. bedroom than a small golf room.  On second thought, maybe for me, but not you.  In any event, some nice shelving and cedar compartments for storage would make sense.  And for presentation, burnt orange putting-grade carpet for the whole room with matching wood trimming.  A special glass display for Andy's "gift" is a must.

I would have to suggest hanging up a few pictures of famous golf holes.  Maybe 13 at Augusta, 7 at Pebble, and 16 at Cypress.  Oh, and personally, I would add a fridge full of beer, a recliner, and a lock on the door.  That way I could enjoy my newly created golf room from my recliner while sipping down some brews and not having to worry about the wife bothering me.

Good Luck.

funny guys, when i was married, I had a extra bedroom with all the above. Naturally there was no texas or buckeyes anything. It was just golf and the pure purple and gold of LSU.

JB,

I'll be happy to contribute a poster of Peyton Manning ;D  I do have a cap that I intended to give to you during the KPII but you disappeared during the Bob Huntley car chase scene.  IM your mailing address and I'll send it forthwith. No, it is not orange.

BTW, I watched my man Condredge Holloway take down your boys and Bert Jones in the Astro-Bluebonnet bowl the other night.  Small consolation for the Tigers' arse-kicking of my beloved Vols two seasons ago.

Regards,

Mike

Mike I am almost certain during those less than liberal times we had another name for Condredge. lol Yes I still remeber the game and the pain of defeat. Thank goodness the Gators wore the Vols out in defeat and opened the door for the LSU Championship win Dec 2001. Mike were you one of those Vols that already had plane tickets to LA and maybe a hotel, Rose Bowl and Rose Bowl Parade tickets. There were alot of orange shirted guys like that on that glorious evening in Atlanta.

John Tiger,

I suggest a PC with an internet connection in the closet.   ::)

On the affordable side, Mark King golf prints on the wall, or on the, uh, 'other' side, Michael Miller.

Personally, I'd suggest numerous photos of LSU's opener last year.   ;D

Space being at a premium, I would suggest a flat screen tv ...

I'd struggle for space. I already have the second bedroom converted to a fairly full wine cellar. Already too much marital disharmony in this room to claim further space in the house. So I put up with my equipment in the ironing room, posters and prints rolled up for now, and she who is wonderful allows the living room calendar to be a large golf one.

Just noticed that you are a big Tiger fan, as am I.  Just curious to know if we have met before.  I have some good friends in Lafayette also, and at Oakbourne.  Good luck with your new room.  I did what you are doing a couple of years ago.  I had a little more room, so I can't really give much advice.  Hope it comes out to your liking.

Well I plan on my guest bedroom and master br and maybe the rest of the house as well as my office carring the ball on art etc. I am always in good Tube shape although I have not gotten a flat screen yet. One of the virtues of single living is good TV and confortable chairs. I am trying to find a model for a well thought out way to store old clubs, the 100 or so hats, rain gear, yardage books, score cards etc. My current version is in each corner of the room is not up to current architectual standards for space usage.

No actual golf rounds were ruined or delayed, nor golf rules broken, in the taking of any photographs that may be displayed by the above forum user.

As a happily married conversative Southern male, I'd be reluctant to dial any number with the name CaliforniaClosets in it - not that there's anything wrong with that.

Mike

You didn't specify the third dimension, height!

Be sure to get one of those swing down clothes hangers for the end of the closet and go high with the out of season stuff or in your case, the burnt orange change-outs needed only ever so often..
