OT: Bay Area get-together with The Emperor
« on: February 25, 2022, 11:47:57 PM »
This upcoming Wednesday night, we are organizing a get together (probably at Val's in Daly City) to commemorate a visit from The Emperor.  Tommy is coming up to visit Lake Merced GC where Gil and Crew are doing great work.  There are probably many GCA newb's who don't know who Tommy is...but...without him this whole website might not exist.

Kevin,

Those of us who have been around certainly know Tommy. Hell, I had the pleasure of being at Yale the day he told the Yale brass “I’m going to give you some tough love”.

Poor Yalies didn’t know what hit them.

But no mention of Tommy would be complete without also noting the two librarians - Marge and Dewey - at the old Ralph Miller Library in Industry Hills, CA.

Would there be Tommy without those two gals?

The amount of quality sand in those Rustic bunkers would be the best forensic evidence for dating that photo! ;)

Tommy has arrived in Nor Cal, after touring CPC today.  He is in heaven, golf-wise.  Looking forward to his thoughts on CPC and Lake Merced in a few days!

I wish I could be there for that.  The Emporer and Val's would be a very good combo.

Judging by his snaps, looks like Tony got a perfect day for his CPC visit.
Asspics of the dinner are expected!

I’m not sure what this means, but if dinner involves either ass pics or aspics then I’m probably out!

Oh, man.  What a wonderful time.

I am so sorry to have missed everyone and all the laughs that must have been shared.

I'll bet Gib and Tommy sang a great duet of "Islands in the Stream" at VAL's World Famous Karaoke Bar in the front room after dinner.

Are there any pictures of that KR?

Tommy,  I know I’d have loved it.  At least David was there to represent the Dornoch crew.Val’s is an NCGA favorite.  Every time there is an event at Olympics or Lake Merced they eat there.

How high level was it? Were they shouting at each other? ;)

Great to see a lot of the usual suspects and meeting Wayne, Dave, and Jim.

Only mild beard pulling was observed...

Indeed some fine wines by David and a good time was had by all I'd say.

Thanks to Kevin for organizing!
