Tuxedo Club Bunker Renovations
« on: January 20, 2022, 04:07:06 PM »
We are very pleased to continuing polishing this lower Hudson Valley jewel.  Scheduled to re-open in May 2022, the Club will feature a new short game practice area, new 9th hole and complete renovation of all bunkers and greenside surrounds grassing.

Randy, it looks like extensive work that will be accomplished in a short time. Tuxedo is one of those courses I have wanted to play. Good luck with the project.

Matt -

The club is in Tuxedo Park, NY.

Randy,

Thanks for posting. The Jones family has been under appreciated over the years here at GCA. My recent trip to Montauk re-opened my eyes to their strengths -

I will never love West Point GC (also RTJ) as it really is un-walkable, but there are a number of  fabulous "heroic shots" on that course. I look forward to their new clubhouse:

I still haven’t had a chance to play it yet but West Point is on my list for next summer.

For those who have not heard of it, Tuxedo Park is an interesting place with a fascinating history.

Difficult walk partly because of the hills, but mostly the distance between the two nines.  I used to walk it though. Here's a link to photos of all 18 holes

Here is a better link to the article in SBusch's post:

This article mentions a very good book about "the secret lab in Tuxedo Park" written by Jennet Conant (called Tuxedo Park). It is about "A Wall Street Tycoon and the Secret Palace of Science That Changed the Course of WWII." The tycoon was Alfred Lee Loomis and the secret palace was in Tuxedo Park.

PBS did an excellent documentary: American Experience: The Secret of Tuxedo Park. It was a fascinating look at what scientist were able to accomplish there during WW2.
