Sounds like another exciting project in Nebraska.  It will be interesting to see who is hired to design the course.  Most of the big names have now already had a shot in the sand hills.  I'd love to see Mike DeVries get an opportunity like this.

Wow this is a bold move, who would have thought Nebraska would be getting more new builds than most other states? It isn't based on population so the view of travel in the future has to be bullish, love to hear the consultant companies data and presentations on this.

The property they are describing is very close to North Platte Airport and I am sure United and the airport will appreciate this new effort. That piece of property appears to be more in the sand hills than Wild Horse down the road –

Is the Dormie club truly private?  My “kick ass” golf trip days have subsided over the last several years and am not familiar with their model.

Dormie is so private the members can’t play.

Dormie Club is based in Lincoln Nebraska so its not that much of a surprise.

This will be the first club they have built which is a departure from buying clubs and folding them into the portfolio.

Promo press release:

https://omaha.com/sports/golf/a-new-private-golf-course-will-be-built-in-the-nebraskas-sandhills/article_9d67ffe4-7580-11ec-b007-379d5f240826.html
Summary isno
  • no architect has been announced
  • project designer is the team of Bob Koontz and Kevin Jones from Southern Pines, North Carolina.
  • They bought almost 2,500 acres so this is huge and maybe using it for hunting/fishing like Dismal? Or keep operating a farm?
  • The North Platte Telegraph reported that the course would include a 10,000- to 12,000-square-foot clubhouse and restaurant, a maintenance facility and lodging with 60 beds.
  • It will be 30 minutes from North Platte airport, which is the closest of the new clubs built.
Wonder what the price for the land was as that is a heck of a big piece.
