The Comeback (Sagebrush)
« on: January 12, 2022, 02:30:26 PM »

Dick Zokol forwarded the link below regarding the re-opening of Sagebrush made by the Preferred Lie people. I played there last July in or about the time the video was made and it brought back a lot of great memories of the fun days with many GCAers.

An opening has been scheduled for next May.

I think those of you who have been there will enjoy.

Saw this was dropping down the page with no replies. So many of us just look at threads we have responded to that a better tactic would have been to reply to the existing thread.

I just happened to be looking for a thread I had previously replied to, but had not been replied to since my last look at it. Wanted to glean some information from that thread.

Bob,
Thanks for sharing. I really enjoyed seeing Sagebrush a bunch of years ago. Nice to see that I'll have another chance.

Is Sagebrush the Kapalua of Canada? It's the course that comes to mind when I see it.
the interviewer asked beck how he felt "being the bob dylan of the 90's" and beck quitely responded "i actually feel more like the bon jovi of the 60's"

Interesting observation, Matt.

Rod Whitman and I talked a bit about Kapalua while we were building Sagebrush. There were (indeed!) some similar challenges with slope/elevation change!

[Oh, I meant to add ... great job by The Preferred Lie group. I really enjoyed the video as well, stunning aerial views of the course!]

Also enjoyed the video as well, brought back a lot of terrific memories from the KP event.

Interesting to note that as a group, I can't think of another course I've played with a better set of par 5's.  And the par 3's on whole felt more like connector holes, which is typically more a function of par 5s.

Wow. I love a design that allows the ball to chase onto the green.

Fantastic video, I have to get out there this summer.  It does seem similar to Kapalua in terms of scale and changes in elevation.
