I can only recall Rich playing so poorly on the front nine as my partner that I formed a special love for him that I have felt for very few people in my life. I think of him a lot when I find myself in desperate times with no hope for success. He was one of the smartest men I ever knew but on that day he didn't say shit. Just took it and took it and took it. If he is in hell he just might be still trying to find that tenth tee.

Not to be maudlin - putting aside trying to compare two courses with almost no commonality - I would much rather play an unkempt, vapid Doak "2" with Huntley, Tiger Bernhardt and Brains Goodale than Pine Valley.


It hurts my heart how much I miss hangin' with those guys.


To his eternal disgrace, Gillette Silver managed to chase off the Huckster . . . . . maybe time for a heartfelt apology and some Christian contrition for your egregious behavior to my longtime good friend.


Think about using that Confessional this Sunday, since you're religious about your religion.

I’ve grown a lot since my tiff with Huck. I should never had judged him for being him. I welcome him into my embrace along with all the other people known and not that I have harmed through the years. This not out of some newfound compassion but rooted in the same selfishness that has steered most of my life’s decisions. I am the one who craves forgiveness. Huck, come back to me baby!!! I need you more than you will ever need me.

Now: so irreverently lapsed as to replace the expected softness of "Mercy" or "Peace" with the hard truth of Secular Nihilism !
