I played at Glencruitten in December 1970. I was 11. A state amateur champion (Hughie Bell) had emigrated from there.
It was 'raw golf'in a good way.

Was it as tight and difficult as the video suggests?

Tight, compact on land not suited to golf.  Short. Quirky.

We didn't play those holes, I think we played the first 10 and the 18th.
It was 50 years ago.  I don't recall the trees but the undulations and streams and blind shots and small greens - yes I remember them.

It isn't Boat of Garten nor a classic coastal links.

I walked the course about 10 years ago. It looks like one of those 'Insane Golf Holes' calendars in places.

Scotland's Painswick is how I'd best describe it.
2024: RSt.D; Mill Ride; Milford; Notts; JCB, Jameson Links, Druids Glen, Royal Dublin, Portmarnock, Old Head, Addington, Parkstone, Denham, Thurlestone, Dartmouth, Rustic Canyon, LACC (N), MPCC (Shore), Cal Club, San Fran, Epsom, Casa Serena, Hayling, Co. Sligo, Strandhill, Carne, Cleeve Hill

I thought about Painswick as a comparison Robin, but it is too long since I saw Glencruitten..

I'm not sure which has more quirk, especially as I didn't see those back nine holes.
