Anyone got a line on Claude Crockford's "The Complete Golf Course: Turf and Design"?
That was a limited edition of only a few hundred copies. I would imagine it's very hard to find anyone who wants to give it up.
By coincidence I'm off to Royal Melbourne in eight hours to work on a landscape master plan for them. When they called to see if I would do it, I wondered why they'd need anything more than Crockford's book!
Um, how much is a pristine copy worth? My copy is no. 351 of the original 1000 printed in 1993. It was actually a gift from the club when I was there giving a series of talks to the Australian Club Managers Association in early 1994. Nice book. I just checked the one linked above on EBay and it's offered at $405 and it is a former library book, while mine has rarely been opened. In the sale notes, he says one has recently been sold at $600. For you guys, I would go $550, LOL. I doubt most of my books have any collector potential but only want a fair price.
As it happens, I am looking to sell off any and all of my collection of golf architecture books to free up room in my loft office. I'm effectively semi-retired now and won't be needing them as reference manuals or anything like that.
I haven't taken the time to write up a list for those book collection agencies, and figure I might have a more willing audience here that would currently enjoy them more than would going forward. I have nearly every gca book ever, except for a dozen or so I have gifted or sold off previously. If you want any titles, you can message me or contact me offline, at least until I get my list of "for sale" books together.
