Colin,
I have never come across official hole names for Gibson Island, but I would love to see them if you find them.
Regarding the seventeenth green at Old White, I feel like the original hole may have dog-legged more left to right in 1915-1922 than the hole we see today. In a very early aerial the green appears to be almost where today’s middle tee box is for 18. This is just speculation on what I see between the two aerials. It appears today’s green is farther away from the 18th green and the river than originally designed. If this green was moved it was likely after the 1922 Women’s Amateur. I agree with Sven that it’s more likely they had a set of tees at 475 and 530 for the seventeenth hole early on.
