« on: October 04, 2021, 06:05:40 PM »
What courses are expected to open in 2022 and 2023?  The ones that comes to mind are The Tree Farm, Landmand and Red Feather.  What am I missing?

First I'd heard of it, too. Google led me to the Original Design Projects/On the Drawing Board page of Gil Hanse's site with the only details being that it will be located in Thermal and construction is to begin this year.

That’s certainly a ghost development. Nothing in the local papers and nothing in the county planning department in the way of permits or plans.

There are some interesting developments that are being floated for Thermal. One is a surf (man made waves) resort with housing and the other is a housing development surrounding a race track. Car collectors could live there and race their toys on the track. No golf courses included in either.

Lost Rail near Omaha.

It should be a great place to visit and play when finished.

I had a very nice walking tour of the construction there on Monday after the Midwest Mashie with Dirk Chatelain and a short talk with the architect Scott Hoffman.  It was a very busy site with a large crew rushing to finish various details.
I think the routing is quite good with a pleasant walk through rolling grounds.
There aren't any real traditional template holes like say Old Mac but it's a good mix.
Some challenge, some easy, with good transitions of grasses and hole types.  Good views too.

It seemed like the construction being done by Landscapes Unlimited is nearly complete and the course opening should happen early next season.

2nd 18 at McArthur (Coore Crenshaw) and 'new 18' at Jonathan's Landing (Hanse), both in Jupiter/Hobe Sound area.  Lots more on the drawing board in Hobe Sound.

Park Mammoth in Ky.  Not a "new" course, but basically a complete rebuild of an existing course.  Pictures look promising.  Be cool if it is has a Sweetens type atmosphere.  Small town, no-name course, lesser known architects, etc

Wicker Point in Alabama. It's an hour south of Birmingham on Lake Martin. Next to Willow Point CC. Wicker will be a private club with some access for folks using on site accommodations.

Correct it's a Gil Hanse course being built for Irving Azhoff the super agent for music stars.  His partner is Eddy Cue the SVP of Apple.  No homes, only 100 members and a couple of Casitas for guests.

The one I'm really interested in is the redevelopment of the former municipal course, Lethamhill, in Glasgow. Scott MacPherson is the GCA and they have now started on site. To quote the press blurb;

"The project aims to redevelop the existing public course at Lethamhill to create a family-focussed venue that provides access to a nine-hole course, Par 3 course, putting greens, short-game area, adventure golf and a 25-bay floodlit driving range for visitors to enjoy a wide range of golf activities, including shorter forms of the sport."

I dare say it won't bring the tourists in from the US but then that's not the point of it. They are looking to be open summer 2022. Hopefully Scott can chime and let us know more of the plans.

I'm not sure if Ballyshear Links by Hanse as inspired from the Lido course has opened this year or not. I can't find anything online as the site I used to link to isn't operating, not a good sign as they were selling memberships up until Covid.

Complete with a boomerang green, two biaritz greens, some redan like features, and a replica of "The Pit" from North Berwick. My nickname for the place is the East Links at South Berwick. ;)
