I've wanted to, but it would have meant that I forfeited my match, lol.

Sun Prairie CC, in Wisconsin. Ugh.

Just because a course was just awful? I have done so only once many years ago at the Tradition at Stonehouse. The fact that it took 2:45 to play the front may have contributed to the decision.

I have always liked Stonehouse. Super quirky, super fun.  There’s nothing great about 5 1/2 hour pace though.

Just last week for maybe the first time ever.

Legends course at Tukwet Canyon (the old SCPGA courses). Recently overseeded. Mushy as all get out. Mud on virtually every ball. Mosquitos everywhere.

Left after 8 holes.

Absolutely. Left after 8 holes.
The last was a high priced privately owned, publicly accessible in the southeast that was over-watered, slow, a little rude, and had failed to inform that they had punched greens.  I would have asked for a rain check but figured why bother.
Short of time as it is and curtailing a miserable slog was worth leaving the balance of the green fee behind.

"It's a tiny little ball that doesn't even move... how hard could it be?"  I will walk and carry 'til I can't... or look (really) stupid.

Not because the course was awful but I have walked off mid-round because the pace of play was so slow I could not stand it.

Pas de Calais region in Northern France. I spent a weekend at Le Touquet, Westminster Hotel. Popular Holiday weekend spot for UK residents who come over via the Chunnel. Terrific French food!

Day One, Gave up after 14 holes and 5 hours on what is left of the Harry Colt La Mer course. Was totally torn up during WWII now being reimagined by multiple golf architects.

Day Two, Same story where after 5 hours got me to about 14 holes on the Hardelot les Pins, Tom Simpson design. I had to make dinner in Ypres, Brussels and gave up.
